Benefits of Arjuna:-
Healthy Heart, circulation, blood pressure, heart by
Introduction:-
Arjun herb used in Ayurveda since 2500 BC as a heart tonic. It is used to treat cardiovascular disease, including angina pectoris, cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure and has remarkable cardioprotective, heart muscle strengthening properpties. The bark of Arjuna / Arjun is useful as an anti-ischemic and cardioprotective agent in hypertension and ischemic heart disease, especially in disturbed cardiac rhythm, angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. Terminalia Arjuna's ability to absorb the blood lipids of suppression indicates that the cholesterol-regulating properties. This herb is now available as a pure herb extract from Himalaya Herbals.
Arjuna bark powder:-
Arjuna bark powder contains co-enzyme Q-10 which is scientifically known and prescribed to prevent heart attacks, the Arjuna bark powder possesses diuretic and a general tonic effect in cases of liver cirrhosis, in addition to prostaglandin enhancing and coronary risk factor modulating properties. It leads a decrease in blood pressure and heart rate. The principle components §-sitosterol, ellagic acid and acid arjunic.
Benefits of Arjuna / Arjun:-
- Arjuna herb has prostaglandin enhancing and coronary risk-modulating properties
- Arjun helps in regulating blood pressure and cholesterol
- Heart muscles are strengthened by Arjun
- Arjuna herb increases the elimination of cholesterol by accelerating the turnover of LDL-cholesterol in the liver

- Arjuna herb helps enhance the effects of stress and nervousness on the heart decreases.
Indications for taking Arjuna herb:-
Cardiomyopathy as myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, coronary heart disease, heart failure, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension. In the case of a heart attack, although not immediately as streptokinase or euro kinase can act, but regular use of the net after recovering from heart attack, reduces the risk of new attacks on a large level. Besides such toxicity or side effects are found and therefore can be argued to be used in the regular basis for a strong and well functioning heart.
Arjuna can help lower Cholesterol as much as 64% - people who prepare Arjuna saw their LDL levels plummet by an average of 25.6%. In animal studies with extremely high blood fats, LDL levels fell from 493 to 162, after 60 days. That's up 64 percent. Plus, HDL-cholesterol (the good stuff) actually increased.

Arjuna in Ayurveda:-
Arjuna is described as a major cardio tonic herb in Ayurveda. In Ayurveda, is ischemic heart disease (IHD) known as Hridroga. There are five clinical descriptions of IHD according to Ayurveda based on flawed doshas and other causes. If the pain is acute and has a displacement of nature, it is known as vata heart disease. If it is accompanied by a burning sensation, called pitta heart disease. If the pain is mild and is associated with heaviness, nausea and cough, it is called kapha heart disease. If all the representative symptoms are present, then identified as tridosha heart disease. In Ayurveda, kapha (hardening of the arteries) is the main underlying mechanism of heart disease. Various herbs are used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for their heart protective measures. These are Arjun (Terminalia Arjuna), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), lasuna (Allium sativum) and Turmeric (Curcuma longa).

Arjuna herb contains specific medically active constituents namely triterpine glycosides as arjunetosides I, II, III, IV, arjunine and arjunetein. The bark is rich in saponnins, natural anti-oxidants (flavonoids-arjunone, arjunolone, leteilin) gallic acid, ellagic acid, oligomeric proanthocyanidins, phytosterols, rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper.
The bark of Arjuna contains co-enzyme Q-10, which prevents heart attacks and a general tonic effect in cases of cirrhosis of the liver. It induces a drug-dependent reduction in blood pressure and heart rate. These findings are supported by clinical studies showed that LDL levels dropped 64%, while HDL levels increased. A 1997 study in the Indian Heart Journal suggests that Arjuna is effective for weakened heart muscles. In it, 24 patients who have a heart attack, either conventional or conventional drugs are medicines with 500 mg every eight hours of Arjuna for three months. Those who received the drug experienced Arjuna with a 18 percent greater improvement in heart pumping activity than those who only conventional medicines. In a 1995 double blind study in the International Journal of Cardiology, 12 patients with chronic heart failure received either 500 mg every eight hours Arjuna or placebo, both groups continued their regular medication. Patients who had taken Arjuna for two weeks experienced a 19 percent lower heart rate (a desirable effect) than those who took a placebo. Symptoms such as fatigue, high blood pressure, heart and frequent contractions also improved. All 12 patients who went arjuna approximately two years. Ten continue to improve two to three months and maintained these improvements during the entire study. The other two deceased participants from heart disease. Recent studies have shown a dose-dependent regulation of blood pressure and heart rate. There was also a slight increase in the HDL-to-total cholesterol ratio and an overall improvement of the cardiovascular profile. The bark of Arjuna inhibits the oxidation of LDL and accelerates the turnover of LDL-cholesterol in the liver. This increases the elimination of cholesterol from the body. The suppression of hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis by Terminalia Arjuna is the mechanism responsible for a significant reduction in beta-lipoprotein lipids and the recovery of HDL components in hyperlipidemia. In a study of the efficacy of the bark powder in treating congestive heart failure (CCF), more than 40% of the cases showed marked improvement. CCF due to congenital malformation of the heart and valve disease is under control. 4 of 9 cases of CCF due to chronic bronchitis were also relieved by the treatment. Arjuna is also known to relieve symptomatic complaints of essential hypertension know. dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, headache and inability to concentrate. Oral administration of an aqueous suspension of the bark powder reduces coagulation, bleeding and prothrombin. Several studies have shown that the heart protective effect of Arjun. The effect of Terminalia Arjun on angina pectoris (chest pain) and congestive heart failure (where the heart can not pump enough blood to various organs) was studied in 10 patients with ischemic heart disease and / or myocardial infarction. Administration of Terminalia Arjuna improved left ventricular ejection fraction (which determines the efficiency of the heart) in 4 patients. In another randomized, double-blind study included 58 men with chronic stable angina pectoris (NYHA Class II-III) received either Terminalia Arjuna or isosorbide mononitrate or a matching placebo. There was improvement in clinical and treadmill exercise parameters in both groups compared with placebo therapy. These benefits were similar to those observed with isosorbide mononitrate therapy and the extract of Arjun was good tolerated5. The heart of Terminalia Arjuna protective measures are due to its powerful anti-oxidant and cholesterol-reducing activity. In a study on 105 patients, showed that patients who Arjun had a significant reduction in total and low-density lipoprotein (bad) cholesterol, along with the enzymes responsible for initiating oxidative stress6.
