Genital Herpies:
Introduction:
Genital herpes is a common, highly contagious disease caused by a virus. It is transmitted from one person to another during sexual activity. Genital herpes causes blisters or groups of small ulcers (open sores) in and around the genitals in men and women together. Can genital herpes can not be cured, but there are some medicines that can be prescribed to treat the disease and reduce symptoms.
* Genital herpes is very widely, to a large extent it is intended to do so. Vector can transmit the disease without any symptoms of infection is active.
* No less than 45 million Americans are infected with genital herpes, with nearly one million new infections each year. Up to 80% -90% of people fail to recognize the symptoms of genital herpes, or may not show symptoms at all.
* The highest rates of infection and are considered among the poor, those with less education, those using cocaine, and those with many sexual partners.
Genital herpes, for the reasons
Genital herpes caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types: Hamburg - 1 - 2 and Hamburg. Most genital herpes infections caused by herpes simplex virus 2. Hamburg - 1 is the usual reason why most people call "fever blisters" in and around the mouth and can be transmitted from one person to another through kissing. Less in many cases, the virus herpes simplex 1 genital herpes infections caused by sexual contact by mouth. And genital sores caused by a virus either look the same.
* Genital herpes is spread through direct contact with an infected person. Sexual intercourse and the practice of oral sex is the most common means of spreading genital herpes. Any type of skin to skin contact, however, is able to spread herpes.
Note: People with herpes may spread the disease even if they do not realize they are infected. Moreover, there is strong evidence that people with herpes can transmit infection and disease at the time seems to be inactive and sores can not be clearly seen.
* Many people remember that episode of genital herpes when it occurs. But up to 90 percent of patients fail to recognize the symptoms or the symptoms may not appear at all. It is not clear whether these people never initial outbreak of herpes or whether they never noticed the presence of infection are mild.
These individuals in genital herpes is still contagious, and it has spread further, however.
Genital herpes symptoms:
Signs of genital herpes tend to develop within three to seven days from the skin to skin contact with an infected person. Infection, genital herpes look like small blisters or ulcers (round areas of broken skin) on the genitals. Each blister or ulcer is usually only 1 to 3 millimeters (1 / 32 inch inch to 1/8th) in size, and blisters or ulcers tend to be grouped into "crops." Blisters usually form first, then quickly open to form ulcers. Herpes infection may be a little painful or tender. In some people, however, can blisters or sores are swollen and very painful.
Location of genital herpes:
* In men, genital herpes sores (lesions) usually appear on or around the penis.
* In women, lesions may be visible outside the vagina, but they usually occur inside the vagina, where it can cause discomfort or vaginal secretions, but can not be seen only through a medical examination.
* And ulcers or blisters may also be found in any place around the genitals (perineum) and in and around the anus.
The first outbreak of genital herpes:
The first genital herpes outbreak is usually more painful, and the first episode may last longer than outbreaks at a later time. Symptoms may continue for two to four weeks.
Some people develop other signs of infection, genital herpes, especially with the first episode, including:
* Fever,
* Pain in the muscles,
* Headache (may be severe),
* Vaginal discharge or painful urination, and
* Swollen and tender lymph nodes in the groin (this swell as the body tries to fight infection).
Later in the spread of genital herpes:
* If the disease returned, later in the outbreak is usually less severe symptoms. Many people with the disease develop recurrent pain or tingling sensation in the area of infection, even before any blisters or sores can be seen. This is due to irritation and inflammation of the nerves leading to the affected area of the skin.
* These are signs that the outbreak is about to begin. The condition is contagious, especially during this period, although the skin still looks natural.
When to seek medical care:
With the outbreak of the primary and, if the individual has signs or symptoms of genital herpes infection, or they must strive to take care of a doctor as soon as possible, especially if he was diagnosed with genital herpes has not been identified in the past. Although genital herpes infections generally are not medical emergencies, treatment is more effective when it is started within the first few days of the outbreak.
Later outbreaks rarely need immediate medical attention.
* If there is a person who had before the outbreak of genital herpes, and discuss options for preventing further outbreaks with a doctor.
* People suffering from severe underlying medical problems (especially HIV or AIDS) are most vulnerable to the risk of severe disease if the disease is untreated. These individuals should contact a doctor immediately if you experience genital herpes sores.
* A pregnant woman with signs or symptoms of genital herpes should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Immediate medical treatment may reduce the risk of disease transmission to newborn children through exposure in the birth canal.
In healthy people, and the spread of genital herpes and rarely require hospital visits.
